48 HOUR VET CHECK / 1 YEAR HEALTH GUARANTEE / PURCHASE AGREEMENT / DOGWOOD-LANE CHIHUAHUAS

The buyer understands that a baby puppy is very fragile, especially a tiny Chihuahua.  Please do not let small children handle them without adult supervision, as being dropped, especially a Chihuahua with its large head, can give them a concussion and kill them. Please don't leave puppy unattended when you are gone from the house, put it in a kennel crate as its den and safety place. Until it has had all its booster shots you should not take it to go to the bathroom where other dogs have gone recently, nor let it play with or rub noses with strange dogs, or dogs that have not had their shots.  This is very important for it can be susceptible to whatever they may carry until it has had all its puppy shots. Loose stools or coccidia can be caused by this.

Young puppies can be prone to hypoglycemia, a condition of low blood sugar brought on by stress, over-handling or failure to eat a sufficient amount of good quality food. The puppy should continue eating food recommended by breeder and any changes in diet should be done very gradually by mixing foods together. I have been working to breed healthy dogs that do not have this defect, but under great stress it can still be possible.

Foods recommended are Solid Gold, Pro-Pac Puppy, Royal Canin, Enhance Endurance, Diamond Premium and Purina Pro-Plan Puppy.  Puppies may become depressed when first taken away from their mother and littermates, they need to be monitored and encouraged to eat. Signs of hypoglycemia are grayish gums instead of pink, wobbly gait and in severe cases seizures. If this happens Karo syrup or honey rubbed on the puppy's gums can reverse the condition until it is seen by a vet. Problems arising from malnutrition, dehydration or hypoglycemia are not covered under the terms of this contract. It is the buyers responsibility to properly care for and observe the condition of the puppy. New owners promise that if for any reason a new puppy does not work out, puppy will be returned to the breeder, never to a pet store or animal shelter.

48 HOUR VET CHECK / HEALTH GUARANTEE

This puppy was healthy and well socialized at the time of purchase by the buyer. It was checked by my own vet as shown on the pet health certificate. If within 48 hours the puppy is found to be be diseased with distemper, parvo or rabies by a licensed veterinarian and the vet will attest to this and describe the condition in writing to be sent to the seller's vet, the buyer has the option of returning puppy to the breeder. Buyer must contact breeder within 48 hours with his intent to return the puppy. Buyer must return the puppy in the same condition as was when purchased, within 10 business day. No cash refunds. The puppy must be returned with a letter of diagnosis from the sellers vet. Umbilical or inguinal hernias, under or overbites, undescended testicals, loose patellas or open fonts are not an allowed reason for returning puppy. These may occasionally be found in puppies, are not life threatening and do not cause them undue problems in later life. Breeder is not responsible for any vet bills after the purchase date.

Breeder/seller is not responsible for any charges in returning or replacing a puppy. A Returned Dog for Replacement Form must be signed by the breeder and the buyer if the puppy is returned in person. If breeder/seller's vet confirms buyer's vets opinion and the puppy is returned in good condition a replacement puppy will be provided, this can take up to 24 months since I do not breed that many puppies and providing one that is similar to yours may take some time.

DEPOSITS / PURCHASE AGREEMENT

Buyer understands and agrees the deposit of $250 is to hold a puppy for you until it is the correct age to go to its new person after 8 weeks old (as determined by breeder- some tiny puppies need a bit longer to be ready to adapt to their new home- between 10-14 wks) and goes toward the final purchase price, it is non-refundable, because seller will have reserved this little puppy especially for you and have turned down all other offers and the puppy will be all ready to go to its new forever home.  If it then has to wait for another owner because you have changed your mind, it will miss a crucial bonding period in its life.

Please make sure you are ready for your new member of the family before you send your deposit and that all family members are agreed they want a puppy! Final payment for the puppy, and delivery fee-if needed, must be sent to the breeder/seller and received 10 days before the puppy will being picked up or delivered. Payment by US Postal Money Order is preferred. I have found this to be the safest and surest form of payment. Credit card numbers over the Internet can be subject to identity theft. If you must use a credit card I can accept PayPal for your convenience but there is a 3% service fee, which I must pass on to the buyer.

Breeder/seller will provide a complete health record of all shots and wormings up to date until time of receiving puppy, a Vet Health Certificate, and some food that the puppy is used to eating.

A puppy or dog sold as a Show Prospect does not guarantee it to win in the ring as there are many important variables that effect showing ability such as training, feeding, and your handling in the ring.  Show quality does not guarantee breeding ability. It does not mean it will not have any problems with such, as unexpected things can happen in any pregnancy or stud service. But it does mean I am selling you the nicest, best quality - in conformation and personality, puppy or dog that I have. I cannot guarantee the final size or temperament of a new puppy as so much of this depends on the owner. Please use the recommended foods- for low quality foods can destroy a great dog. It would be best to get some of each food mentioned and mix them all together, as so many foods are missing essential nutrients, even the expensive ones!

1 YEAR GUARANTEE FOR CONGENITAL / GENETIC CONDITIONS RESULTING IN THE PUPPY'S DEATH

If puppy dies before reaching 12 months of age, due to congenital / genetic conditions documented by buyers licensed veterinarian - breeder/seller will provide a replacement puppy of equal value. AN AUTOPSY MUST BE PREFORMED to determine the exact cause of death at the buyers expense. Buyer's vet shall send the results in writing to the seller's vet. Buyer shall send a copy of the autopsy report to the breeder and an original death certificate must be provided to the breeder from the sellers vet.

To be eligible for this guarantee the puppy/dog must be given all vaccinations and checked for internal parasites every 3 months until one year of age with documentation on file at a licensed vet office to be provided to sellers vet. Dog is to be put on heartworm prevention by 4 months of age and a copy of this documentation provided to the breeder's vet upon request. If illness occurs -( don't call the breeder-they cannot diagnose over the phone )- dog is to receive immediate care from your vet and all prescribed treatment is to be followed.

The puppy/dog will NOT be replaced if it should die from conditions resulting from abuse, hypoglycemia, neglect, accident or improper feeding. If a puppy is not well cared for sometimes its illness will resemble a genetic one at first appearance. Example: if little puppy is dropped and hits its head it may have a concussion that will cause it to have fits that will look like it has epilepsy. This is why an autopsy is required.  Breeder/seller is to be notified within 48 hours of the death of puppy/dog. Breeder is not responsible for any vet bills to diagnose or treat the puppy/dog for any kind of condition after the purchase date.  All documentation contained within this contract will have to be provided before the buyer is placed on a list to receive a replacement puppy. This may take up to 24 months as breeder only as few litters a year, and many are spoken for before birth or may not be the right sex or color as the puppy to be replaced.

No cash refunds: replacement only. Breeder/seller is not responsible for shipping or other charges incurred to replace a puppy/dog. No other provisions, aside from those detailed herein, will be made after the purchase date. Buyer has read, understood and agreed to the 48 Hour Health Guarantee/Sales Agreement: purchase of a Dogwood-Lane puppy signifies agreement. Buyer understands and agrees that non-compliance of any or all of the terms of this health guarantee/purchase agreement will void the guarantee. Any litigation will be conducted in the court of Texas County, Missouri. If the buyer wishes to have the 1 Year Guarantee it must be copied, signed and returned to Breeder at time of sale for it to be valid and in effect, if not already sent at time of down-payment.
